BJMP HAS ANOTHER FEMALE GENERAL
Senior Superintendent Gloria S. Nocedo, the incumbent Chief of the Directorate for Comptrollership of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology-National Headquarters got the promotion to Chief Superintendent - a one-star rank she had long wished for.
Nocedo started her thirty- four (34) years in government service as a policewoman of the defunct PC/INP, then with the Philippine National Police and she later opted to transfer to the BJMP following the agency’s creation on 1991 pursuant to R.A. 6975.
She rose from the ranks working her way up through diligence, perseverance and hard work. With the BJMP she held sensitive assignments at various times exhibiting her competence and capability as a leader. She had been chief of offices at the BJMP National Headquarters and a Regional Director in Region 1, where she was awarded as the “2007 BEST REGIONAL DIRECTOR” during the BJMP 16th Anniversary celebration.
The DILG Placement and Selection Board in its Resolution No.2008-02 dated February 2, 2008 resolved and recommended to Interior and Local Government Secretary Ronaldo V. Puno that then Senior Supt Nocedo be indorsed for promotion to Chief Superintendent to Her Excellency President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
In his recommendation to the President, Secretary Puno wrote, “to allow Senior Supt Nocedo to avail of one last promotion will certainly be Her Excellency’s act of kindness and generosity so fitting as to recognize her intense dedication, commitment and loyalty to the uniformed service of the government.”
Nocedo’s appointment was signed by President Arroyo on April 29, 2008. Nocedo is now the second woman general of the Jail Bureau, next to Chief Supt Doris R Dorigo, who was promoted earlier this year.
